“Breughel” at work on Seine channel
16 February 2012 - New contracts - France
On 12 January 2012, the trailing suction dredger Breughel, belonging to SDI, a subsidiary of DEME, a CFE company (VINCI Construction), arrived in the mouth of the Seine near Le Havre (Normandy). The dredger (capacity: 11,800 cu. metres) has begun work on the first phase of the project, awarded to a consortium including SDI and EMCC (VINCI Construction France), to improve sea access to the port of Rouen. Its task is to eliminate ’peaks’ on the bed of the Seine channel in order to increase the draught on a 45-kilometre stretch of the estuary section of the river. The overall project will concern a total distance of 120 km up to Rouen and guarantee a draught of 11.70 m to large ships.
