AI improves road safety in Peru

Lima Expresa (VINCI Highways/VINCI Concessions), concessionaire of the Lima expressways, has deployed the first system for the automatic detection of road accidents in Peru to be based on artificial intelligence.

It detects over 95% of incidents in less than five minutes, making it possible to considerably reduce incident response times and optimise the management of personnel, inspection vehicles and emergency services. A technological advance that also helps to prevent accidents, by spotting pedestrians and stationary vehicles in potentially dangerous locations. Since becoming part of the VINCI Highways network, Lima Expresa has reduced the number of accidents on the Linea Amarilla and Via de Evitamiento expressways by 70%.
