A tabletop exercise for the A89

A safety exercise was staged on 15 April 2014 in the Bussière tunnel on the A89 motorway. Led by ASF (VINCI Autoroutes), this event brought together more than 40 active participants and observers in the Tarare maintenance centre. The various participants, from ASF, SDIS 69 (departmental fire and rescue service) and EDSR 69 (departmental road safety body) used this opportunity to check their awareness of the procedures to be followed in the event of an incident, and to test the effectiveness of the way information is passed between the various services involved and the different levels of the chain of command. Unlike in previous exercises staged in the tunnels of this section of motorway, this was a so-called ‘tabletop exercise’, not involving any personnel or resources being deployed in the field.
