VINCI Autoroutes finances, designs, builds and operates motorways in France. With a network of 4,443 km under concessions run by ASF, Cofiroute, Escota, Arcour and Arcos, VINCI Autoroutes is France’s leading motorway concession holder. The primary mission of its 5,513 employees is to ensure – whatever the circumstances – network maintenance and the continuity of a public motorway service which is vital to the economy, society and regional accessibility. To tackle the climate crisis and biodiversity degradation, VINCI Autoroutes has pledged to transform motorways into low-carbon infrastructure and improve their integration in natural environments.

toward low-carbon motorways
Fulfilling its pledge to halve direct CO2 emissions from its activities (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030, VINCI Autoroutes has accelerated the decarbonisation of its fleet of vehicles – 66% of its light utility vehicles were electric-powered by the end of 2023 – and the installation of LED lighting on its network. These are its two main sources of direct emissions.
towards “zero waste” recycled motorways
As a programme manager, VINCI Autoroutes encourages the use of recycled and renewable materials for its roadworks. In 2023, 96.5% of the asphalt mix from renovation works on its network was recycled, including 50% that was reused in its own roadworks. On its own operations, VINCI Autoroutes recycles or reuses 89% of the waste generated by its own activities as secondary raw materials and aims to increase that amount to 100% by 2025.
towards land rehabilitation of motorways areas
VINCI Autoroutes wants to be a positive contributor to the restoration of natural habitats. The environment represents a growing share of its investment in motorway construction and renovation. Where its own operations are concerned, VINCI Autoroutes is committed to managing its network’s green spaces responsibly and aims to eliminate all phytosanitary products from green area maintenance.
